No. But great food
If u request nicely
Fast, cheap and always delicious 😋
Great food ,service , and price
I Love this spot, great food and great service
Not Cactus Club, Browns, Earls or any other tacky Vancouver chain. This is an OLD SCHOOL DINER. It’s cheap, a little grimy, but full of charm. They don’t make places like this anymore. Thank god this one has stood the test of time.
Thank-you, Grace & Co. , for consistent, long-time support, camaraderie, and good food.dd--
Great homestyle cooking. The best clubhouse sandwich in town
It was kinda like going home for a meal, but also seemingly world class. Great food as well.
I have worked near enough to this restaurant for over 10 years. I finally went there this week. It met all my expectations. It reminded me of how a place to eat should be. I plan to become a regular and bring in as many people I know as possible.
Excellent Breakfast...Great atmosphereand to be in one of the famous tv spots in Vancouver...A little peice of TV history...and life interminable..Thank U...
Excellent prices and the food was absolutely top notch and was made with pure love. I would highly recommend!
This Is one of my new favorite restaurants. The food is great and affordable. The staff is friendly and it's got a funky old-school diner vibe.
Great value diner food with really friendly service. The historical decor makes you feel like you've entered a different era. Had the fish burger and fish n chips and both were delicious! Great coffee as well.
Old school cafe with lots of history and nice breakfast and service!
As authentic as you can get. Cheap good eats in a relaxed environment. Frequented by customer s of all income levels and housing arrangements.
Service was good. Food was good. But they had flies in there sugar. And aren't very polite
Decent diner style food and the service was super nice. Had the southwest (veggie) benny which was ok; avocado was a little under ripe and the hollandaise a little sweet but overall quite satisfying. I'm curious to go back and try their house made veggie burger and fries.
I LIKE TO GO TO THE OVALTINE FOR THEIR STEAK AND EGG BREAKFAST ANYTIME WITH MY KOKANY BEER
A hot spot that Billy and I love to hit for breaky on the weekends 😚😊🌹❤
Decent price, poor service, and the eggs aren't for me. Once is good enough for me to know I'd be more comfortable going elsewhere
Ovaltine has a long, incredible history, and was recently names one of the top cafes in the world noted for its distinctly Edward Hopper charm. Food is great and affordable. If you want an authentic experience, this is the place to go.
Ok food, but they shouldn't close the washroom to paying customers. They barred paying customers that used the washrooms.
Cause there for. Good is good
I enjoyed this enjoyable little nook, been dropping by this place for 20+ years. Gr8 breakfast and lunch place..
The Ovaltine Cafe is one of the oldest diners in the city that still has the diner style booths and stools we had in the 1940s and 50s the old time atmosphere is what makes it worth stopping by for a beer and a burger and good conversation with the staff which are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable the Ovaltine cafe is located a stone throw away from Main and hastings streets in the heart of east Vancouver drop by it's a experience you'll remember for the next time your in Vancouver.
Take a step back. In tiime the place has not changed in fifty years. It is easy on the wallet and you can take your time the food is filling and fresh coffe warms the frozen and there's no lines.
The Best for mushroom Burgers And the Eggs Bennie varieties from southwestern with avacado (loaded)tomatoes..the best hollandaise..eggs dome to perfection.Smoked salmon bennie with capers;smoked salmon;touch of Dill😉😊💯👌👊
A very nice place for lunch or breakfast. It still sports the old neon signs from its hey days of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Many movies and TV shows are shot here and it is possible to sometimes see famous actors there. Food is good, people are great and the prices are reasonable.
Nostalgic, rustic, great food
Good soup and grilled cheese sandwichGood servic3¹service
Food is decent. Service is decent. Prices are good. Interior is old, but VERY authentic. I had the Clubhouse, and it was made with big pieces of real turkey, so that's a good sign. Fries look like they are hand-chipped, although they come unseasoned, so a little salt and pepper makes them much tastier.
It was also used as the set for the 2000 movie "Get Carter" starring Sylvester Stallone as well as i-Robot starring Wil Smith and numerous other movie and television hits. The restaurant establishment certainly has that "old time" 1920s to 1950s look and feel to it and going inside is like time-travel back to another era which is why it's so popular with location scouts. Try the lemon merengue pie and coffee. Go there for the atmosphere, not the food, and sit in the chairs that many famous American movie stars have sat and imagine yourself in the movies!
Restaurant was nostalgic, staff was friendly, and at 52 I learned something new!!......I don't like ovaltine!! (The beverage)
Love this place! One of the last real ones left. Great food and service.
It use to be fabulous, now smaller portions lousy service, dingy dong of a waitress....ddduuuhhh
Got the House Burger. It's only $10 tax included, great tasting burger for a great deal 😄 Loved the crunch of the onion rings. Saw Ovaltine Cafe on the list of oldest Vancouver restaurants and just had to come try it out. Loved the decor and feel inside, feels like I stepped back in time. Location is easy to get to, some interesting characters outside but felt totally safe.
Great full breakfast cad6.00. Place like out of time warp ' happy days' set comes to mind. Staff very friendly and place full of character. Only down side is restrooms (toilets) need some tender loving care a bit more often. Near to Patricia hotel east Hastings Street.
Good,fast,friendly,cheap,authentic diner
Great experience, great food, great service, first time in this place and I had a great food Try the matcha milkshake it’s awesome
Some menu pictures here show they have a lot of Gluten Free options, but they changed it. They were able to change up the menu a bit for me to make it suitable though. It was all in all a good experience :)
Strange tasting sauce on the benny.. would have rated it 4 stars but not sure about the shady characters in and out of there.
For a greasy spoon this place is AOK in my books! I ♥ Ovaltine & diners! Located on the north side of East Hastings, east of Main Street. No outdoor seating. Wheelchair accessible.😋 👍👍 👏 👌
What a great spot. Not the may west of areas admittedly, however, the style of this cafe is cool, it's very clean. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. And the food, not a word of lie, the presentation was 5 star and the quality and taste one of the best eggs Benedict I've had. Second time there, as flawless as the first, this is my new breakfast regular for every weekend. Oh and plus its ridiculously cheap
Old school diner, not the imitation of one. Best fries in the city (on a good day) and top 15 on a bad day. All day breakfast for people without a lot of cash to send; perfectly bad diner coffee, perfect seating (coat hooks on each wooden booth, mirrors and memorabilia all around!)The two owners are anchors for this neighborhood.
Very cozy, the waitress was very friendly and attentive, and the prices are more than fair 😍
Waitress is friendly. We ordered fish and chips and Benedict egg. Both Fish and benedick egg are tasty. There is not busy even in Saturday noontime. I think location is the crucial impact.
Great atmosphere, good food, great staff. Sit in a booth or at the counter and enjoy a great milkshake or drink of your choice. I like milkshakes myself
It was fast. We were greeted by a fresh beautiful face. She was flawless in her knowledge of the menu. She made frequent stops to see how we were doing. And communicated quite effectively with guests that were just arriving, already seated guests, and guests she was waiting on in the moment. Coffee was topped up until we declined. The food came out promptly. Exactly how we ordered. It was fresh and always delicious.
Old Cafe in a different part of town. Not glamorous, but delicious food and they have vegetarian options. Cute little nostalgic diner feeling, also they filmed some X-Files here. No complaints service was speedy
Good food. Love the vibe there. No place like it .
Affordable and tasty food, outstanding atmosphere, more then hundred years serving vancouverites. A travel in time!
